The U.S. Commercial Service and the CT District Export Council hosted a webinar on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 about Connecticut’s NEW Data Privacy Act and existing Cyber Security Laws.

The terms “privacy” and “cybersecurity” are constantly in the news these days. It seems that each new day brings more reports of data breaches, ransomware attacks, and lawsuits that involve consumers’ data privacy. While there is currently no federal law that addresses consumer data privacy, many states are enacting regulations that require companies to take this matter seriously. On July 1st of this year, Connecticut will become the next state to have an enforceable consumer data privacy law. This webinar focused on the requirements set forth in the new CT law and address what other laws in CT focus on data privacy and cybersecurity that businesses should be aware of.
